Four categories of horror:
Predation: It is the feel of being hunted. For example the predator of the story kills the other alives to assimilate his own life.
Paranormal: Predators are ghosts, vampires, undead.. These kind of stories play on the fear of the unknown.
Slasher: In Slasher, the killer isn't an animal, a human. It kills for fun- it doesn't have a moral. The killer is often close the victim. Unusual insturments are used.
Psychological: Less blood than the other categories. Usually slow, methodical with moments of uncomfortable frightening silence. Examines the mental breakdown of the main character.
Fear of the Unknown & Other:
1-Where are you going W. Have You Been story is an example of the fear of other.
2-Horror gets for the characters and the watcher if they do not really know what is going to happen. It is the simple explanation of the horror of the unknown.
What is Gothic?
It is style using art and literature and also architecture( part of art actually). Scary motives are always included. Beginning the 19th century- style of the darkness.
Horror Genre:
Thriller: (Silence of the lambs)- Psychological horror.
Macabre: Usually death- horrifying&scary aspects.
Suspense: To wait for something to happen with a feeling of worry. Harker& 3 girls during the molestation.
Gore: Bloody scenes- killing with knives-teeth etc.
Satire: Making fun of something really serious.
Satanistic: The devil& hell based stories.
Wonderment: The feeling you get from something strange- unexpected- unbelievable.
Quick history of horror:
- 1st horror movie was directed by French Filmmaker- Georges Melies. The English name was The Devil's Castle.
- 1st full length horror movie was made by Germany.
- 19th century was the growth of Horror. It was the great change.
- Universal Studios of Hollywood-USA. The king of the horror films with Dracula, Frankestein and The legend of Sleepy Hallow.
- 2nd World War extremely effected the people. The newsreels of the war was more scary than horror films. So the popularity declined.
Important Elements of a Horror Story:
Character: Special people- protagonist, antagonist etc..
Setting: The place, time, or era when the literature takes place.
Tone&Mood: The way that someone presents the language. Whatever the tone is creates this for you.
Theme&Purpose: It is what the story is all about.
Language: Kinds of languages that the writer uses.
Plot: The story. The cases of the story.
Additions_
- The sound is extremely important in a horror film. Because the difference of the tension is phenomenal when you watch the same scary scene of a horror film without sound.
- The suspense triangle is very important.
- Dracula was gothic, paranormal story. It was set in Transylvania and Dracula's Castle.
- Where are you going W. Have You Been was an example of psychological suburbia, stalker. It was set in a house.

Hey Guys, I wont be grading them tonight as I am waiting for an answer key from Mr Entreken so that every teacher and students have the same answers. So tomorrow night I promise

No it will be a department answer key which means it is fairer. Of course some answers will be at the discretion of the teachers.
Anyway Buse the homework for tonight is to write me a paragraph on suspense horror to show me that you can write a concise and proper paragraph in this genre
