Coğrafyanın inceleme alanı Dünya'dır.
Bu alan karmaşık bir sistem olduğundan bölümlere ayrılmıştır. İnsan ve etkinlikleri dışında kalan bölümü fiziki coğrafya, insan ve etkinliklerini inceleyen bölüme beşeri ve ekonomik coğrafya denir.


Coğrafyanın iki ana dalı var.

Fiziki (doğal) coğrafyanın bölümleri,
*Jeomorfoloji- Litosferi incler.
*Hidrografya- Hidrosferi inceler.
*Biyocoğrafya- Biyosferi inceler
*Klimatoloji- İklim olaylarını, atmosferi inceler.

Beşeri ve ekonomik coğrafyanın bölümleri,
*Nüfus coğrafyası
*Yerleşme coğrafyası
*Tarım coğrafyası
*Sanayi coğrafyası
*Ticaret coğrafyası
*Turizm coğrafyası



Dünya farklı sistemlerden oluşur bu sistemler (doğal sistemler) :
1.Litosfer: Dünya yüzeyini saran kabuk katmanıdır. Dağ, ova, plato gibi şekiller insan faaliyetlerini etkiler. Örneğin ova-plato bölgelerinde tarım yapılır. Litosfer üzerindeki yer şekillerinin oluşumunu jeomorfoloji inceler.
2. Hidrosfer: Dünya'daki tüm sular. Denizler, okyanuslar, kaynak suları, akarsular hepsi hidrosferin parçalarıdır. Güneş sisteminde diğer gezegenlerde bulunmaz. Hidrosferin özelliklerini inceleyen bilim dalı hidrografyadır.
3.Biyosfer: Canlıların yaşadığı katmandır. Bitki-hayvan yaşam alanlarını inceler. Biyocoğrafya canlı topluluğuyla bu sistem arasındaki ilişkileri araştırır.
4.Atmosfer: Yeryüzünü saran gaz tabakası. İnsan ve insan faaliyetlerini en çok etkileyen bölümdür. Rüzgarlar, yağış, sıcaklık, iklim olayları atmosferin içinde gerçekleşir. Klimatoloji tarafından incelenir.

Dünya sistemlerinde meydana gelen herhangi bir değişim başka bir sistemi etkileyebilir.
Örneğin, bir volkanik patlama sonucu yeryüzüne akan lavlar bir vadinin dışa açılan bölümünü kapatabilir. Bu tıkanıklık yeni bir gölün oluşumunu sağlayabilir. - Patlama sırasında havaya karışan volkanik gazlar güneş ışığının dünyaya ulaşmasını engelleyebilir, sıcaklık düşer ve canlılar etkilenir.
İnsanlar da doğal sistemleri etkiler. Petrol kullandığımızda, kıyılara dalgakıranlar yaptığımızda sistem ve sistemin öğelerinde değişikiğe seebep oluruz.



Bir haritanın özellikleri şunlardır.
*Dünya'nın tamamını ya da bir bölümünü gösterir.
*Kuşbakışı görünümdedir.
*Belli bir ölçek kullanılır. Bu ölçek haritada gösterilir.
*Yeryüzü genelde bir düzlem üserinde gösterilir.
*Paralel ve meridyenler belirtilir.
*Bir başlığı bulunur.
*Harita anahtarı(lejant) bulunur.


Ölçekler kesir ölçek ve çizgi ölçek olmak üzere ikiye ayrılır.

Kesir ölçek haritadaki 1 cm uzunluğun gerçekte kaç cm'ye eşit olduğunu gösterir. Pay daima 1'dir, payda gerçek uzunluktur.

Çizgi ölçek eşit parçalara bölünen doğru üzerinde gerçek uzunlukların belirtildiği ölçektir.

Örneğin: Çizgi ölçek 4 cm, 4 parçaya ayrılmış ve 10-0-10-20-30km ler gösterimiş. Bu demektir ki her cm 10 km'ye eşit. Ve kesir ölçek karşılı 1/1.000.000 cm olur.

Dikkat! Çizgi ölçeklerde uzunluk birimi farklı olabilir.



Projeksiyon Yöntemleri:

Dünyanın şeki geottir. Düzleme doğrudan doğruya aktarmak olanaksızdır. Baz kurallarla dünyanın eğri yüzeyindeki bilgiler düzleme aktarılır. Bu harita projeksiyonudur. Uzunluk, alan, oranlar, açılar değişime uğrar. Buna deformasyon denir.
1. Silindirik Projeksiyon: Bir kağıta siilindir biçimi verilerek küreye sarılır. Bu haritalarda kağıt ekvatora değer bu nedenle kutuplara gidildikçe şekiller bozulur. Olduğundan büyük görünür.
2.Konik Projeksiyon: Kağıda koni şekli verilir orta enlemlere değecek şekilde küre üzerine yerleştirilir. Orta enlemlerde bozulma azdır. Orta enlemlerden kutup ve ekvatora gidildikçe şekiller büyür.
3.Düzlemsel Projeksiyon: Kağıt düzlem şeklinde kutup noktalarına değecek şekilde yerleştirilir. Kağıdın küre yüzeyine değdiği yerde bozulma azdır.Uzaklaştıkça artar.


Kullanım amaçlarına göre haritalar genel haritalar ve özel haritalardır.
Genel Haritalar toplumun geniş kesiminde kullanılır, fiziki ve siyasi haritalardır.
Özel Haritalar, belli meslek gruplarında kullanılır. Jeoloji haritaları, maden haritaları, su kaynakları haritaları, depre haritaları gibi...

Ölçeklerine göre haritalar büyük, orta, ve küçük ölçekli haritalardır.
Büyük ölçekli haritaların ölçekleri 1/200.000 den büyüktür. Planlar bu gruba girer. Küçültme oranı az-gösterilen alan az olduğundan ayrıntılar fazladır.
Orta ölçekli haritaların ölçekleri 1/500.000 ve 1/200.000 arasındadır. Bazı atlas, duvar, karayolları haritaları bu gruptadır.
Küçük ölçekli haritaların ölçekleri 1/500.000 den küçüktür. Küçültme oranı fazla-gözterilen alan geniş olduğundan ayrıntılar azdır. Örneğin dünya haritalarının ölçekleri genelde 1/50.000.000 dan küçüktür.

Dikkat! Haritada ölçek küçüldükçe kesir ölçekteki payda büyür!


Haritalarda Yer Şekillerini Gösterme Yöntemleri:
1.Kabartma Yöntemi: Yer şekillerini gerçeğe en yakın gösteren haritalardır. Kullanımı sınırlı ve zordur.
2.Tarama Yöntemi: Yer şekillerine bağlı tarama yapılır. Eğimli yerlerde taramalar sık ve kalın, kısa. Eğimin azaldığı yerde taramalar uzun, ince ve seyrektir.
3.Gölgelendirme Yöntemi: Gölgelendirmeden yararlanılır. Işığın değişik açılarla geldiği varsayılır. Örneğin ışık 90' açıyla geldiği noktada eğimli yerler koyu, düz yerler açık tonda boyanır.
4.Renklendirme Yöntemi: Tek başına kullanılamaz. İzohips yöntemiyle birlikte kullanılır. Yükseltiler, derinlikler değişik renklerle gösterilir.

5.İzohips Yöntemi: Deniz seviyesine göre yükseltisi aynı olan noktaların birleştirilir, eğriler elde edilir. Bu eğriler eş yükselti eğrileri yani izohipslerdir. Yöntemse izohips yöntemidir. Haritalar bu yöntemle çizilir sonra işlenerek (renklendirilerek) son halini alır.

1.Öncelikle deniz seviyesine göre aynı yükseltideki yerler belirlenir.
2.Aynı noktalar birleştirilerek izohipsler elde edilir.
3.Bu işlemler yapılır, eğriler kağıt üzerine aktarılır.Temel kurallar:
*Haritalarda izohips aralık değerleri eşittir(ekuidistans). Haritadan haritaya değişiklik gösterebilir.
*Ölçek büyüdükçe izohips aralık değeri azalır, küçüldükçe artar.
*İzohipsler birbirini kesmezler.
*Çukur yerler ok işaretiyle gösterilir.
*V yaptıkları yerle akarsu vadileridir.
*İzohipslerin sık, yakın geçtiği yerlerde eğim fazladır.
*Kalın çizgiler akarsuları gösterir. Düzensiz akarsular kesik çizgili gösterilir.

Four categories of horror:

Predation: It is the feel of being hunted. For example the predator of the story kills the other alives to assimilate his own life.
Paranormal: Predators are ghosts, vampires, undead.. These kind of stories play on the fear of the unknown.
Slasher: In Slasher, the killer isn't an animal, a human. It kills for fun- it doesn't have a moral. The killer is often close the victim. Unusual insturments are used.
Psychological: Less blood than the other categories. Usually slow, methodical with moments of uncomfortable frightening silence. Examines the mental breakdown of the main character.


Fear of the Unknown & Other:

1-Where are you going W. Have You Been story is an example of the fear of other.
2-Horror gets for the characters and the watcher if they do not really know what is going to happen. It is the simple explanation of the horror of the unknown.


What is Gothic?

It is style using art and literature and also architecture( part of art actually). Scary motives are always included. Beginning the 19th century- style of the darkness.



Horror Genre:

Thriller: (Silence of the lambs)- Psychological horror.
Macabre: Usually death- horrifying&scary aspects.
Suspense: To wait for something to happen with a feeling of worry. Harker& 3 girls during the molestation.
Gore: Bloody scenes- killing with knives-teeth etc.
Satire: Making fun of something really serious.
Satanistic: The devil& hell based stories.
Wonderment: The feeling you get from something strange- unexpected- unbelievable.


Quick history of horror:

1. 1st horror movie was directed by French Filmmaker- Georges Melies. The English name was The Devil's Castle.
2. 1st full length horror movie was made by Germany.
3. 19th century was the growth of Horror. It was the great change.
4. Universal Studios of Hollywood-USA. The king of the horror films with Dracula, Frankestein and The legend of Sleepy Hallow.
5. 2nd World War extremely effected the people. The newsreels of the war was more scary than horror films. So the popularity declined.

Important Elements of a Horror Story:

Character: Special people- protagonist, antagonist etc..
Setting: The place, time, or era when the literature takes place.
Tone&Mood: The way that someone presents the language. Whatever the tone is creates this for you.
Theme&Purpose: It is what the story is all about.
Language: Kinds of languages that the writer uses.
Plot: The story. The cases of the story.



Additions_

1. The sound is extremely important in a horror film. Because the difference of the tension is phenomenal when you watch the same scary scene of a horror film without sound.
2. The suspense triangle is very important.
3. Dracula was gothic, paranormal story. It was set in Transylvania and Dracula's Castle.
4. Where are you going W. Have You Been was an example of psychological suburbia, stalker. It was set in a house.

I watched a really good documentary about ID: Intelligence by Design. It basically is about , oh hang on, I am listening to my ipod now and Radiohead, In Rainbows and "jigsaw falling into pieces" just came on---OMS! it is a superb opening to a song, oh and I also added ipod to my pc dictionary along with radiohead, ANYWAY, ID and what it is. Basically it blows Darwinism out of its 19th century growth hole and gives it a big creationist shard of lightning up Charlie's arse! The best part about the documentary is the way Darwinist scientific establishments refuse point blank to accept anything other than evolution. But for a moment consider this: lest just say that yes we evolved from whatever. Right? Well where did those species evolve from? Where did they start? They had to start from somewhere right? And nobody knows how or where; even with the Big Bang theorists there are far too many holes that need explaining. Did you know for example that darwin had NO CLUE as to how a cell was made up- no one did at that time. Now we can split the dna strings and identify various genes and strains that unfortunately screw his whole theory up. OMS! we may have come from aliens or another life force at some stage of development far outside of our own. A higher intelligence being may have planted the seed of intelligence and has been watching it "evolve "for millions of years in our time span but a mere month in th eyes of the alternative life force...oh I love this shit...ID FOREVER kekekekeke

OMS! I am so out of it these days. I was so tired last night that I had nothing to give to FTS. It is disappointing I have to say but also my MSc is taking a battering. I don't know what I am going to do with regard this space. I will try to post more regularly but in addition to all of that my plays arrived yesterday and that is going to take a lot of my time. TAKEN is a brilliant film btw...the opening 20 minutes will blow you away. We were all scared when we watched it..great stuff

Wednesday and Wonderfully Wise...?

I have been feeling great all day because I feel on top of things. Well, not yesterday after school when a disaster happened. Brian managed to eat the climbing flower (again) which is simply devastating. But as I said to you today we must never forget to quesion things as it is the fountain of knowledge. If we stop questioning ourselves and those around us we become nothing; we are nothing; we will never be anything! So, I manage to deal with it by telling myself: the reason why Brian did that was not because he wanted to upset you, but because he is unable to think and question his actions. That is the profound difference. So, Mearns, appreciate what you have and work to make the others who cannot think and question realise how they have to mend their eating ways. ie. tie the bugger up!

First Day Back and Feeling Amazing in HEV

OMS! I have waited all day to see if my mood would change but it hasn't. I feel stoning brilliant! I really have missed working. This sounds really geeky, but it is true. However, I had to post the video to show how stoned up some people are. This sort of material is ridiculous and should be banned and the company exposed as charlatans. Yep, Guys, since this is Monday and I am at home on my pc and having just watched three episodes of "How I met your mother" I guess it cannot be a normal Monday. Ahh, yes, it is a continuation of the bayram. I suppose with this start to the year school is just not going to be the same. I am preparing the year 11 exam first today before I get into my MSc course which will be on for the rest of the day. My wife is not home till late so I can go full throttle at the MET unit which will free me up for the remainder of the week. so, how was everyone's holiday? I saw only Bahadir and NO Cem the whole week of the blog. Was everyone away? Anyway get blogging and tell me all about your week of sheer bliss. BTW, today's photo is from the hit show, "How I met your mother"...pretty funny...and I think it is just warming up...watch this space

Yep, due to the fact ı am on my new pc and it works like a racehorse, that I am downloading a new comedy series that is supposed to be so funny, whole first season arriving tomorrow, I have another day off tomorrow, my year 11 exam is about to be written and I want to study my new MSc module, life simply could not be any better. This constant working and thinking is a new lease of life for me. It's been going on now for about a year and I am ever so grateful to the STONE of life. Thank you my stone,Thank you ! Thank you! Thank you!

It's Wednesday and Indiana Jones is in town

I have just written my assignment (28 pages) for my MSc so I want to watch a movie now. It will be the new Indiana Jones movie which has just been released on the net as a good copy. So, when anyone eventually gets back on to Room 101- that is wher I am now..in front of my 42inch plasma sucking up the quality Hollywood stuff
